Is there a meaning or message hidden behind coincidences?

Last week, I was listening to a radio program. The topic was coincidences. At the same time, the TV was on. I was watching a sports show because I wanted to see the latest soccer scores.

Then, the guest at the radio program said that coincidences are like footprints on the sand next to the ocean. At that precise moment, the sports show on TV went to commercials and in the first commercial, a little girl was walking next to the ocean and leaving her footprints on the sand.

How do you explain such a coincidence? How do you explain that at the very same moment that footprints on the sand are mentioned in the radio that image appears on TV? There many radio stations to listen to and many TV programs to watch. And there are many topics to mention. Why (or how) did that coincidence happen?

In fact, this is not the first time something like that happened to me. A few years ago, I was watching a Stargate episode in the kitchen, where my old TV set still is. At the same time, my son was watching the same episode on a newer HD TV set in the living room.

In the episode, the Stargate team had to save one of its members. To do it, they had to find the way to know what was about to happen two seconds before it actually happened.

Now, because I was watching the show on an older TV set, and because my son was watching the show on a HD TV set, I knew two seconds before he knew what was about to happen on the show, because of the normal HD delay. In other words, I was experiencing in real life the two seconds of advanced knowledge. That coincidence between reality and fantasy stills worries me.

Obviously, those are just minor coincidences. However, last week I was about to pick up the phone to call a certain person and at that same moment the phone rang and it was that person calling me. Just another coincidence?

I know that a coincidence is just that, that is, two events happening at the same time in some kind of unexpected and almost connected manner. But there is no reason to think that one event caused the other, or that there is any hidden message or meaning in the coincidence.

However, those coincidences, big or small, are always amazing. Sometimes they seem to be miracles or supernatural interventions. Sometimes I feel there is a superior intelligence making things happen. But I am not sure there is any lesson to be learned.

However, if there is no divine intelligence and no purpose, why, a few minutes after seeing an old tool in a forgotten drawer, you need to use that tool to fix something? Or why a book given to you is the one you need to complete a project?

I still do not understand coincidences, but I know they do happen.
